GameCube Service Disc v1.0/03 was initially used by Nintendo World Class Service to test and diagnose console, Memory Cards, and controller faults. It can even check the game currently put in a Game Boy Advance through the use of the GameCube-Game Boy Advance Cable. Additionally, Nintendo 64 controllers may be recognized, which suggests that this feature dates back to an older device iteration. The Service Disc, like all other Nintendo testing software, has a vast amount of Nintendo-related content, some of which has been used and some of which has not. Strangely enough, there are also legitimate brands from the car industry, such as Tamiya and Goodyear. Console revisions released after 2003 will boot the Service Disc into a black screen that will remain there permanently. This was most likely done to prevent further service when the Nintendo World Class Service was discontinued. As a result of Nintendo collecting the remaining copies and, most likely, destroying them, very few copies were ever released into circulation.
