The game is set in the fortress of Oblivion, a strange fortress guarded by Marluxia. Sora and his friends are taught that visiting the castle causes guests to lose their memories. The lobby and regions between levels are white with flower-themed décor, but with “world cards” made from Sora’s memories, each floor may be converted into a different world from the original Kingdom Hearts game. Like before, Square Enix created most of the settings, with Disney films as the inspiration for the remainder. The worlds in this game, unlike the previous one, are constructed by Sora’s memories. As a result, many of the events from Kingdom Hearts are relived in this game; Sora faces memory-based replicas of Disney characters he has previously encountered. Individual plotlines differ from the original game and center on memory. The Deep Jungle planet, on the other hand, does not resurface in Chain of Memories. In the same way that Kingdom Hearts has numerous worlds built exclusively for the game, Chain of Memories offers Twilight Town in addition to the original Kingdom Hearts realms. The memories on “the other side of Sora’s heart” were used to construct the Twilight Town world card.
